The Springdale Fire Protection District was established in August 1977 as an all Volunteer District  to provide fire suppression duties,  emergency medical  services and rescue services to a small community of about 10,000 residents, bordering the Meramec River.  In 1979 the Fire District hired its first full-time firefighter.  In 1980,  the District built Station #2 at 2198 Saline Rd. to better provide for its growing population’s need. In 1990 the Fire District hired its first full-time Fire Chief to over see the growing Departments needs. In May 2003 the Fire District moved Station #1 from 1691 Old S. Hwy. 141, to its new location across the highway to 1771 Springdale Blvd. to accommodate for a full-time staff of  17, a volunteer staff of 9 and 1 full-time secretary.  The Department staffs 2 rescue engines, 1 reserve engine, 1 utility vehicle and 1 boat.  The District responded to almost 1000 alarms in 2006. The Fire District is  involved with the George Guffey school and actively participates in community events. The Springdale Fire Protection District is committed to serving its community  of about 25,000 residents and over 200 businesses with the best equipment, resources, and manpower possible 24 hours a day 7 days a week.  The personnel who serve with the Fire District are all certified as firefighters through the state of Missouri, certified at the Hazardous Material Operational level, and are either EMT’s or First Responders. The Fire District is committed to the continued fire service education and advanced degree education of all its employees.  The Fire District is resolved to the advancement of all its members.  This level of certification and licensing through the state of Missouri and at a national level along with a rigorous training schedule allow for the men and women of the department  to be proficient and professional in all aspects of the fire service.  If you are interested in becoming a firefighter,  please come by or call Station 1 for more information.
